With Christmas just around the corner, we have put together the following guide for the art lover in your life!
We love this jacquard and down pillow featuring Joan Miro’s Deux Personnages Hantes Par un Oiseau (1976). Although it may not be an original Miro (we suggest this piece, if you are looking for that) it is inexpensive, fun and would look great within either a bedroom or another living space. It is $145 and available at Artspace here.
Christmas Tree (1957)
Andy Warhol absolutely loved Christmas, and as the devoted capitalist that he was, he didn’t hesitate to take advantage of it. Here we have an image of a Christmas tree as an offset lithograph printed in gold and folded paper. At 12 ¾ x 9 ¾ inches it is not a large piece, but makes for a wonderful Christmas gift for anyone interested in collecting art. It is available via Christie’s with an estimate of $4,000 – 6,000.
Mickey and Minnie Walking in the Moonlight (1932 – 1934)
This colorful and fun piece is perfect for a child, or even the adult in your life who still has a child’s heart. It is all at once entertaining, especially for children, but meaningful, especially for a loved one in your life. This gouache watercolor on board is 11 x 16 inches and is signed by Walt Disney on the bottom center. It is available via Sotheby’s and is estimated to sell from $50,000 – 70,000.
A Very Special Christmas (1987)
This piece by Keith Haring would make a very special gift for any child, especially those born on or around Christmas. It features a parent unwrapping the most special gift of all: their newborn child. The piece is 19.25 x 23.25 inches and is of an edition of 300. It is available via Paddle8 here.
King and Queen (1952 and 1953)
This is the ultimate gift for you and your spouse: King and Queen ceramics by Pablo Picasso. Although obviously more famous for his paintings and drawings, Picasso was also an avid ceramicist and these two pieces represent the pinnacle of collecting his pottery. They are rarely sold together and appear to have all of the necessary stamps and markings. They are available via 1stDibs here for $140,000.
