Paddle 8’s latest house sale offers fun, collectible works for everyone.
By Chadwick Ciocci
Paddle 8’s house sale #52 offers several works for beginning as well as seasoned collectors. Below are a few of our recommendations.
The estimate follows the title and our recommendation follows the description.
Love Paperweight (Pink)
$1,000 – 1,500
From Paddle 8: “Robert Indiana’s ‘LOVE’ began as a simple Christmas card design for friends and has slowly become one of the most recognizable images in the art world. His technique is bold and visually stimulating, elevating simple text and colloquialisms in order to merge the personal and the public, the visual and the verbal. A miniature version of the sculpture that sits on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indiana, this brushed aluminum paperweight commemorates the artist most iconic design.”
We recommend acquiring this piece up to $1,200.
The Offs, 1984
$500 – 700
This piece is an offset lithograph on record jacket, vinyl record. It is one of an edition of 310 and unfortunately is unsigned.
That being said, it is a fun and interesting piece and quintessentially Basquiat.
We recommend acquiring this piece as close to the low estimate as possible.
$800 – 1,200
Haring’s work is dramatic and specific, and it isn’t for everyone. He was a star in the 1980’s New York City art scene and was a member of Andy Warhol’s inner circle.
Bold, colorful and creative, this piece is sure to be a conversation piece after you display it in your home.
The piece has already met its reserve and bidding currently stands at $1,500. We recommend acquiring this work up to $1,900.
