Today marks the first day of the 2014 edition of the Royal Ascot continuing through Saturday, June 21st. The famed thoroughbred horse-racing venue has featured racing since 1711 and the Royal Ascot is a longtime tradition at the Ascot, Berkshire locale.

Royal Ascot is a singular event as even Her Majesty The Queen attends the festivities. Each day, Her Majesty The Queen takes part in the royal procession in a marvelous presentation in which she and her guests travel by way of horse drawn carriages past the Royal Ascot’s three enclosures- Royal Enclosure, Grandstand and Silver Ring.

King George IV started the extraordinary tradition in 1825 and it has continued ever since.

Royal Ascot attendees have much to look forward to with events and activities extending beyond horse racing and bets. The course is surrounded by a number of fine dining restaurant options and there is plenty of pageantry to be enjoyed throughout the five days.

High fashion is a special aspect of the Royal Ascot and the best of the best looks are guaranteed to be seen as per strict dressing guidelines for the races. Smart dress translates to modest length dresses or full-length trouser suits for women with hats or other fine millinery and waist coasts, as well as hats and ties for men.
