A stunning address, a stunning home does not always make. So it was with this prefabricated home in Greenwich, CT- until Tanja Ellis had her way, that is. With her characteristic style and eye for all that is chic, Tanja made this prefab home fab.
In fact, the home has been so completely redesigned that it is hardly recognizable from its previous incarnation. For example the dark, depressing and drab library that served as a sort of card room for visitors now boasts an all white interior accented by five Andy Warhol prints of Marilyn Monroe.
“Too often people build dark libraries for the simple reason libraries are supposed to be dark. But that’s ridiculous. There’s no reason a library can’t be bright and open and fun,” said Tanja. “We’ve made a place where people actively want to read.”
This house turned home is 7,000+ square feet and sits on over two acres overlooking a pond, so taking advantage of the interior and exterior space and utilizing views of the water were of paramount importance. So Tanja opened the kitchen and connecting family room while taking advantage of the 1,000+ square foot patio and floor to ceiling windows. By removing a barrier wall, repainting with lighter, brighter colors and installing more user-friendly furniture, Tanja was able to create a phenomenal and seamless entertaining and family space.
While the entire home is fabulous, perhaps the most stunning changes are to be found in the master bedroom and the second master bathroom. In the main area of the master bedroom, Tanja installed her signature porcelain romantic bathtub, shadowed by an en suite fireplace. The tub sits in a large yet private bay window overlooking the pond, creating the most romantic retreat in the home.
